Steve Milloy received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Miami University and a Masters of Music in conducting from the University of Cincinnati/College-Conservatory of Music. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers and serves on the board of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses.
With a connection to Southern California’s LGBTQ community that spans multiple years, Steve has arranged pieces for the chorus going back to the times of our founder, Rich Cook. Steve composed the masterful piece Bayard Rustin: The Man Behind the Dream, which has been performed all over the country, including a local tour in LA and Riverside counties presented by our friends at South Coast Chorale.
Steve Milloy is the current artistic director of Men Alive! – Orange County’s Gay Men’s Chorus. He is the former artistic director of the Cincinnati Men’s Chorus, the Martin Luther King Coalition Chorale, and the DiverseCity Youth Chorus; Steve Milloy (b. 1965) has spent over three decades coaching and directing singers in schools, churches, theaters, and concert stages across the Midwestern United States. He has performed in many venues: theme parks, entertaining troops overseas, TV and radio, and singing with the acclaimed acappella octet, Pieces of 8.
Steve has been commissioned to compose or arrange pieces for dozens of church & community choruses in the US and UK. He has worked at the keyboard and/or on the podium with choruses and theater troupes in St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati. With Dr. Charles Beale, he coauthored the books “Popular Voiceworks 1 and 2” for Oxford University Press. Steve received a BA in Music from Miami University and a MM in conducting from the University of Cincinnati/College-Conservatory of Music.
