In selecting a guest artist it is wise to think about what kind of artist will boost your ticket sales and at the same time not overshadow your chorus. Consider artists that are able to integrate their performance with your programming theme/style and perform with your chorus as well as on their own.

GUEST ARTIST AGREEMENT

AGREEMENT made this 28th April, 2016 by Guest Artist Name (hereinafter referred to as the ARTIST) and Chorus Name (hereinafter referred to as QUEER CHORUS).

1. Artist Duties

QUEER CHORUS retains the ARTIST to (1) perform in the ….   

  1. Rehearsal for Concerts (guest artists and band) will be Friday, July 1 from 10:00 AM-12:30 PM Boettcher Concert Hall at the Denver Performing Arts Center.
  • Video broadcast interviews on Saturday, July 2 from 10:30-11:00 AM. Meet in the lobby of the Buell Theater.
  • Rehearsal for the Opening Concerts will be on Saturday, July 2 from 12:30 – 3:30 PM in the Boettcher Concert Hall at the Denver Performing Arts Center.
  • Opening Concerts performed on Saturday, July 2 from 7:00-7:45 PM and 8:30-9:15 PM in the Boettcher Concert Hall at the Denver Performing Arts Center.

2. Remuneration

In consideration for the ARTIST performance, QUEER CHORUS will pay the ARTIST a total of $XXX  with 50% to be paid upon contract signing and the other 50% on completion of this contract. 

3. Travel and Accommodation

QUEER CHORUS shall provide, at their expense, the ARTIST with 1 (one) mutually approved hotel room for 3 nights – Thursday, June 30 and departing July 3.

QUEER CHORUS will reimburse ARTIST for economy plus airfare round trip ________ to Denver and ground transportation (cab/Uber in ________ Denver) for the ARTIST.  Reimbursement will be made within 10 days of submission by ARTIST of receipts.

4. Recordings. ARTIST understands that QUEER CHORUS will broadcast the performance of the Opening Concerts on July 2, 2016 live over Livestream.  There will be no charge to viewers of the performance on Livestream and there will be no rebroadcast or sale of the recording.

5. Public Relations

QUEER CHORUS shall have the right to use the ARTIST’s name, personal likeness and biographies (as provided by the ARTIST) for promotional purposes.  The ARTIST, subject to their discretion and availability, agrees to participate in various activities in Denver, including but not limited to press interviews, receptions, etc. as arranged and requested by QUEER CHORUS.  The ARTIST agreement to participate in such activities shall not be unreasonably withheld.

6. Cancellation

Neither QUEER CHORUS nor the ARTIST shall be deemed to be in default if Performance of the obligations required by this Agreement becomes impossible because of any act of God, war, earthquake, fire, strike, accident, civil commotion, act of Government, its agencies or officers, or any other legitimate cause beyond the control of the parties.

7.  Gender Neutral Language Statement

QUEER CHORUS strives for gender neutrality with regards to language in recognition of the many genders represented within our member choruses, singing sections and the LGBT community. When working and communicating with singers and choruses within the QUEER CHORUS community please keep the following guidelines in mind.

  • Please refer to sections by voice part rather than gender, ie; tenors and basses rather than men or women.
  • There are also gender inclusive ways that you can address a chorus as a whole. People or folks or simply everyone are more gender-neutral options (as opposed to Ladies and Gentlemen).

We know that gender specific language is a part of our culture and we don’t expect each individual to overcome years of conditioning overnight. We would, however, appreciate your attempt to address our members in the most gender-neutral way possible. Thank you for being a guest of QUEER CHORUS.

8. Miscellaneous

(A)       This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties and may not be modified or otherwise changed except in writing signed by all parties hereto.

(B)       Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this Agreement or the breach thereof shall be settled by arbitration before one arbitrator in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in accordance with the rules then obtaining of the American Arbitration Association and judgement upon the award rendered may be entered in any court or forum having jurisdiction thereof.

(C )      This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of Delaware.  The parties to this Agreement hereby stipulate that the venue of any dispute arising under the terms of this Agreement shall be the City of Pittsburgh, and the County of Allegheny.

(E)       Any approvals or authorizations required hereunder must be made in writing.
