Dear GALA Choruses singers,
We’re so excited to invite you to join us this November to form a special community chorus representing GALA Choruses at the Out & Loud Choirs Festival in Perth, Australia!
This ensemble is about connection, joy, and shared purpose—bringing LGBTQIA+ singers together from across the country to make music, build community, and celebrate who we are on an international stage. You don’t have to be a soloist or a “power singer.” You just have to love singing, be open to collaboration, and be excited by the idea of creating something meaningful with singers from all over the GALA Choruses network.
What This Experience Is
- An international choral festival celebrating LGBTQIA+ voices from around the world
- A true community choir—made up of singers from many GALA choruses, singing as one
- A shared presence—showing up together, proudly, with heart and intention
- A week of music, connection, and unforgettable memories (yes, it will be fun—deeply, joyfully fun)
This is about singing with people, not singing at people. It’s about showing up fully, making new friends, and experience the kind of musical connection that stays with you long after the last note fades.

- Perth, Australia
- November 16–20, 2026 (specific rehearsal and performance details will be shared with selected singers)
What to Know About Costs (No Fine Print Energy)
Participants will be responsible for:
- Airfare to and from Perth
- Visa fees, as relevant for your passport
- Housing/accommodations
- Meals and personal expenses
- $150 (USD) GALA registration fee, which helps cover music licensing, preparation materials, and administrative costs related to this ensemble
- $350 in Australian dollars (AUD) TBC from festival organizers in Australia
- This is approximately $250 USD; please check current conversion rates for the most accurate comparison
Who This Is For
You might be a great fit if you:
- Are a current member of a GALA-affiliated chorus
- Can learn music independently and sing confidently in an ensemble
- Are flexible, collaborative, and open to new experiences
- Want to be part of something joyful, meaningful, and a little bit extraordinary
This form is an expression of interest, not a final commitment, as we will only travel with a minimum of 30 singers. Submitting it helps us understand interest, voice part distribution, and logistics as we shape this special ensemble.

Membership & Billing Reminder
Chorus administrators — you can renew your chorus’s membership, pay dues and other invoices, and update your chorus details on Integra. If you need to be granted administrator access, or have any other questions or concerns with these tasks, please reach out to Reese Schmid, Membership & Communications Manager, at rschmid@galachoruses.org.
Social Media & Newsletter Features
We are always looking for news from our members that we can share on our organization’s social media and in our newsletter! Member choruses can also request to do a social media takeover of our organization’s accounts for a day. To submit news & stories and/or request a social media takeover, please fill out this form.
If you want GALA Choruses to promote your concert or other events on social media, please tag us in your posts and we will strive to reshare or post to Stories if the event is in alignment with GALA Choruses’ mission and values. We are currently active on Facebook and Instagram.
Board Member Recruitment
GALA Choruses is always looking for new Board members. While we welcome anyone who is interested, we have a current need for Board members with strong skills in the following areas: legal, strategic planning, finance, technology, event planning, and resource development. As it is imperative that our Board of Directors reflects our membership, we specifically seek more voices from SSAA, SATB, Trans, and Youth choruses. If you are interested in becoming a member of the GALA Board, please send an email to recruitment@galachoruses.org. In the email, please provide your name, contact email address, telephone number, chorus affiliation (past and/or present, if any), any prior Board experience, the specific skills or talents you have to contribute to the GALA Board, and a brief description of why you are interested in being on the GALA Board.
