Wallace Foundation Report “Engaging Audiences”

The Wallace Foundation has published a report from its recent conference of arts grantees.  The report includes some fascinating insights on arts participation and today’s audiences along with insights regarding the impact of the current recession on arts organizations.  Please add your comments below about how thoughts from the article apply to GALA member choruses.

Sharing Successful Outreach Ideas and Experiences

A primary focus for GALA Choruses over the next few years is assisting our member choruses with living the outreach aspect of their missions.  We recognize that this means somewhat different things to each chorus but there is a generally consistent theme of using our music as a means of social change.   We would like to use this dialog as a means for member choruses to share ideas and experiences around outreach activities.  Please post your successes, goals and even your failures as there is much to learn from what didn’t work as well.

 Dealing with the Current Economy

Considering our current struggling national economy, is your chorus experiencing reduced ticket sales, smaller individual donations in your annual fundraising campaigns etc. and if so, what are some creative new approaches that you think might work to help improve revenue?
