Bayard Rustin Festival Chorus

Bayard Rustin: The Man Behind the Dream, conducted by Steve Milloy (he/him), will perform three movements in the Legacy Blockbuster (Black Boy Born, Stick in the Wheel, We Shall Not Be Moved). Open to individual singers from choirs that have performed Bayard Rustin previously, including alumni. This chorus performs in the Legacy Blockbuster on July 11 from 9:00 to 10:15 PM on the MCC Auditorium Stage.

Join composer and conductor Steve Milloy (he/him) to perform 3 movements from “Bayard Rustin: The Man Behind the Dream”!  Any singer who has sung Bayard in the past is welcome to join this Festival Chorus (alumni included). 

Singers are expected to arrive at Festival with the three songs memorized and will participate in one joint rehearsal with Steve on the afternoon of opening day, July 10. The performance will include Story-Guides and a full band.

In addition, singers in the Bayard Rustin Festival Chorus will perform “Thankful” by Josh Grobin, as the closing song in the Legacy Blockbuster Concert.

Rehearsals at Festival

  • July 10 Rehearsal 2:30-4:00 pm
  • July 11 Tech rehearsal 7:00 – 8:30 PM. MCC Auditorium Stage
  • July 11 Legacy Blockbuster 9:00 – 10:15 PM. MCC Auditorium Stage
