Two Boys Kissing

The Hartford Gay Men’s Chorus will present the New England premiere of Two Boys Kissing this spring. The show will be performed on Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5, at 8 p.m., with a matinee performance on Sunday, May 6, at 3 pm. at the Aetna Theater at The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford.

Two Boys Kissing is based on the Lambda Literary Award-winning young adult novel by David Levithan. Told through narrative and song, Two Boys Kissing shares the stories of Harry and Craig, two gay teenagers who decide to break the world record for the longest kiss; transgender teen Avery and the boy, Ryan, who he meets at a gay prom; and Cooper, a young boy struggling with his sexuality and headed down a dangerous path. As the clock ticks, the boys are watched over by a chorus of men from generations before who died of AIDS and now watch the world that’s come after them with both sadness and joy.

The work is composed by Joshua Shank, with lyrics by David Levithan, based on his book.
