Artistic Advisor in Residence

This role reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary contact for artistic staff of member choruses
  • Onboard new GALA ADs with respect to GALA structure, expectations, networking, contract negotiation, resources, commissioning, arrangements, licensing, and copyright
  • Coordinate youth activities including being the primary advisor to youth choruses and to youth programs of adult choruses
  • Develop and maintain all artistic content of the GALA Choruses website
  • Serve as primary lead for commissioning projects and related educational curricula with step-by-step guides, training, and webinars
  • Host monthly virtual roundtable for ADs
  • Identify and update GALA Song Database with particular emphasis on mission-oriented work and LGBTQIA+ composer works
  • Coordinate all artistic aspects (performers, guest artists, guest conductors, etc) of the annual Leadership Symposium and the quadrennial GALA Festival 
  • Seek and develop GALA chorus collaborations in conjunction with Executive Director
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years’ experience in choral conducting, preferably with a GALA chorus
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Understanding and comprehension of copyright and licensing issues
  • Ability to inspire GALA choruses and serve as a leader for Artistic Directors

Proposed compensation: $25,000

Part time

This role is at-will.

This role is for the duration of 2 years only.

NOTE: In the twelve months prior to the quadrennial festival, this role will expand and compensation will be commensurate.
