A full slate of workshops, roundtable discussions and one-on-one advisory sessions start Friday afternoon and continue through mid-day on Sunday.

Recruiting, Retaining & Maximizing Members
The Boston Gay Men's Chorus went from 175 active members and 150 on stage for each show to over 300 active members and 200 on stage in just 3 years. Retention of auditionees went from about 50% to over 90%. Free, low cost and fun ways of engaging members and auditionees will be shared to show how your chorus can use or adapt what worked for BGMC to grow and keep your membership.Presenters:

Board Meetings: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
What happens when a board meeting goes awry? You know it happens! This session will present a mock board meeting where boundaries are crossed, tempers flair, people are not engaged and the meeting is unproductive. We will follow this all too familiar scenario with another board meeting that appropriately addresses how to deal with the same issues assuring the mission of the organization becomes the focal point for the board meeting. New Options for Licensing arrangements
Copyright rules can be daunting to understand, especially if they keep changing – it’s hard to keep up! Tim Sarsany will share the steps he takes regarding copyright permission and licensing. With Sheet Music Plus, there are some new opportunities for arrangers to legally sell their arrangements, as well choruses looking for a cheaper, but legal way to purchase arrangements, as well as obtain copyright permission.Presenters:

Inspiring Singer Collaboration in Choral Music
While most of our singers may not have had professional training, many join our ensembles having had a wide range of experiences with music-making which developed their technical skills and formed their
aesthetic beliefs. Recognizing and exploiting this knowledge can greatly enhance the quality of music-making of the ensemble and increase musical learning for everyone, singers and directors. This session, inspired by the values of feminist theory as described by Nana Wolfe-Hill, will outline specific strategies directors can use to engage singers’ intellect and emotions during rehearsal and inspire singers to take responsibility for their own performance.Presenters:

Chorus Management During Artistic Director Transitions
During the 2017-18 concert season, Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus underwent a time of transition with artistic leadership. With two out of three season concerts led by interim artistic directors, Chorus leadership was
presented with an opportunity to collaboratively define communication roles with Chorus staff, set expectations of success across the organization, onboard and support two interim directors, and help manage Chorus members’ attitudes.
