Conducting Tips and Tricks

This two-part session will cover a variety of challenges facing directors in rehearsal and performance. Some of the topics to be covered are:
- The uniqueness of conducting a GALA Chorus
- All facets of preparation
- Memorization
- Using technology in between rehearsals and in rehearsals
- Working with instrumentalists
- Dealing with problem singers
Several conductors will present short topics followed by group discussion.
Living Your Strategic Plan Session Description
Creating a realistic strategic plan is a challenge but it's only paper if you don't instill a discipline in the organization about monitoring/updating the strategic plan. This session will cover the process for comparing your actual results against your strategic plan and making mid-course adjustments along the way.

Between Grace and Fear: A Community Conversation

As investment in arts-based community development has increased, so have the stakes for the communities and individuals involved. This workshop will provide an opportunity for you to identify and discuss specific issues, ideas, and opportunities coming from your chorus's experiences related to community engagement.
Some specific questions that may be addressed include:
- What promotes and nurtures our individual and collective creativity.
- What skills does our chorus need to enter into successful collaborations?
- Are there different aspects of the creative called up by different circumstances?
