Mass Chorus Performance - Summer Fridays at the Statehouse

Join all of the delegates of GALA 2009 Columbus in a performance on the steps of the Ohio Statehouse as part of Summer Fridays at the Statehouse program from 12:00 – 1:00 pm.

Why is this important?

GALA Choruses tries to be visible in the cities where we hold events so that our presence can make a difference. From the words of Lynne Bowman, Executive Director of Equality Ohio:

My personal motivation for engaging in equal rights work is a internal conviction that everyone deserves equal justice. My professional career has been spent focusing on justice for people with disabilities, while my non-professional experiences center around justice for people who may be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. I do not believe that a person should be treated in a different manner simply because something about who they naturally are happens to be different from another.

Our performance on September 4th will be the finale of the summer program. The delegates will sing one or two songs and VOX, an ensemble from Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus will fill out the rest of the concert. The delegates will be directed by Dr. Timothy Seelig, Artistic Director in Residence for GALA Choruses. The music to be performed by this mass chorus will be posted on the website soon. We will have a chance to rehearse in Columbus before this performance.
