In 2015, the Hertfordshire Chorus from the U.K. commissioned composer James McCarthy to write a piece telling the story of Alan Turing, the English computer scientist and cryptanalyst. The result was a mammoth work for SATB chorus, full orchestra and soprano called, Codebreaker. With the composer’s permission, One Voice Chorus and Nashville in Harmony collaboratively premiered the work in the U.S. in the spring of 2017, giving concerts in both Charlotte, NC and Nashville, TN.

After the U.S. premieres, the Hertfordshire Chorus invited each of the American choruses to send representatives to join in a collaborative performance on October 7, 2017 at St. Alban’s Cathedral in St. Ablan’s, U.K. While visiting London, singers from One Voice were treated to a tour from Martin Brophy (Gay Men’s Chorus of London), which included hearing evensong at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
